  • Employment Counselling Services (ECS) provides employees with access to professional mental and emotional health support services. It is a supportive environment where clients can explore their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, with the goal of fostering personal growth, healing, and improved mental health.

  • Counselling is a professional, confidential process designed to help individuals explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in a safe and supportive environment. It provides a space for you to discuss personal challenges, emotional struggles, and life changes, with the aim of gaining insight and finding effective coping strategies. During counselling sessions, a trained therapist or counsellor will listen attentively and without judgment, helping you to clarify your concerns and goals. Together, you will work to identify patterns in your thinking and behaviour, develop new skills, and foster personal growth. Counselling can address a wide range of issues, including stress, anxiety, depression, anger management, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, addiction and more. It can also be beneficial for those seeking personal development, improved communication skills, or a better understanding of themselves. Whether you are facing a specific challenge or simply want to enhance your overall well-being, counselling can provide valuable support and guidance on your journey toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.   • Employment Counselling Services are confidential, and information is not disclosed without consent. You can read our confidentiality policy here: www.ecsnz.co.nz/confidentiality. Some employers will want to know if you attended sessions, how many sessions you attended, and a broad description of the reason counselling is required. This information is only possibly known by owners, managers, and/or HR. None of these people can share this information to anyone else. Some employers want opening and closure forms for sessions. If you are concerned about confidentiality most businesses have given us the ability to protect staff’s confidentiality more when requested.   • Personal and/or professional issues on a variety of topics. We have professionals that specialise in all areas; stress, anxiety, depression, anger management, grief, relationship issues, family issues, addictions, abuse, financial concerns, family issues, parenting struggles, work-related challenges, and sexual issues.

  • Sessions are 50 minutes each. This may vary slightly with therapists. Sessions are conducted face to face, or online by video calling or phone.

  • You do not have to disclose your specific reasons for seeking support, however, it can help to match you with the right counsellor.

  • Usually 3 a year, some employers allow an option to increase to 6.

  • You can contact us or ask your counsellor to apply for more sessions for you. Some information will have to be disclosed.

  • If you want to rebook with the same counsellor contact them directly. If you want to try a different counsellor please contact us at admin@ecsnz.co.nz.

  • Some employers allow you to use ECS for close family members.

  • You will be given an option of different counsellors.

  • You are welcome to contact us to change counsellors if you don’t feel the one you saw isn’t a good fit. Please contact us at admin@ecsnz.co.nz.

  • You can stop counselling at any time, you do not need to give a reason.

  • You are required to give 2 business days notice to reschedule a time. This enables our counsellors to manage their schedules and income effectively.
